Foundations of global executive coaching is the 12-day entry certificate of the HEC Paris Postgraduate program in global executive coaching. It equips experienced professionals with the core skills, psychological grounding and self-awareness to coach ethically and effectively in international organisations. Anchored in the latest scientific evidence and in the EMCC and ICF frameworks, it moves from the foundations of the coaching conversation, through the self as an instrument, to the major psychological approaches shaping contemporary practice — including coaching for well-being, resilience and performance.

Objectives
- Master the core EMCC and ICF coaching competencies and run effective, ethical coaching sessions.
- Establish clear contracts and relationships and apply coaching models such as GROW and OSKAR.
- Use the Self as an instrument, surfacing your assumptions, biases and cultural lens.
- Apply a wide range of psychological approaches to client needs.
- Reflect critically on practice to shape a personal coaching philosophy.

The coaching conversation, active listening and powerful questioning, contracting and behaviour change, ethics and the ICF/EMCC competencies, including contracting and working across cultural contexts.
Self-awareness and the Self as an instrument, cultural assumptions and biases, AI assumptions and biases and the shaping of a personal coaching philosophy.
Cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused, person-centred, existential, positive psychology and further approaches, with coaching for well-being and resilience.
Capitalization
This Executive Certificate Program is eligible for capitalization towards the Post-graduate program in global executive coaching

Learning methods & evaluations
Evidence-based teaching, experiential learning, coaching in dyads and triads, demonstrations, case studies, reflective practice, individual coaching and small-group supervision. Pre-module reading and reflection are required between modules.
