Roger Solà Martinez

Master in Economics & Finance

Roger Solà Martinez

Roger Solà Martinez

My aim in joining the program was to gain insight into the role of economics and finance in shaping the global landscape. I have acquired extensive knowledge and expertise in finance and investing, which has proven to be highly valued by my current company.

Why did you decide to join this HEC Paris Master?

I chose to join the MEF program at HEC Paris because coming from an Industrial Engineering background, I wanted to develop a holistic understanding of the world at the macro level. My aim was to gain insight into the role of economics and finance in shaping the global landscape.  By doing so, I could explore avenues to maximize my impact on society and contribute to addressing the urgent challenge of climate change.

What are your biggest takeaways from the program?

To have a greater impact, it is important to understand the big picture and leverage the knowledge of economics and finance.

What is your current job? What types of responsibilities do you have?

As an Associate Consultant at Dalberg Advisors, I provide strategic insights and policy advisory services, driving system change with a climate and gender perspective, at the intersection of digital technologies, finance and investment, and entrepreneurship.

How did the program help define your career path and secure your job?

Through the program, I acquired extensive knowledge and expertise in finance and investing, which has proven to be highly valued by my current company.

What are your long-term career aspirations, and how will having the MEF Master help you achieve your goals?

My long-term career aspirations revolve around securing a role that allows me to make the most significant systematic impact in poverty alleviation and climate change. The MEF program provided me with a broader perspective and the ability to think on a macroeconomic scale, empowering me to pursue these aspirations effectively.

Any advice for students considering joining the MEF Master and wishing to follow a similar career path?

Be curious and persistent. In other words, strive to learn every day to become a better person and professional while taking action to have the greatest possible impact on society and climate change.
