Gonçalo Pacheco de Almeida is the Dieter Schwarz Foundation Chaired Professor and the Academic Director of the MBA Strategy Specialization at HEC Paris. His award-winning research and teaching bring actionable insights on strategy, negotiation, and innovation to executives and policymakers.
Professor Pacheco de Almeida helps leaders develop strategies that perform under pressure: stress-tested playbooks to plan, negotiate, and attain sustainable competitive advantage and public welfare – with a special focus on hypercompetitive, uncertain environments. When and how fast should firms innovate and invest? What corporate political strategies lead to superior profit persistence? And how can firms design a resilient negotiation roadmap to analyze and execute strategies in complex, high-stakes deals?
His work sits at the intersection of business and economics, addressing these and related questions across sectors such as energy, high tech, and education. Professor Pacheco de Almeida’s academic career spans over 25 years across Europe, the US, the Middle East, and Asia. He has received 16 best professor awards and nominations – and he is a frequent executive educator, keynote speaker, and facilitator for Global Fortune 500 and CAC 40 companies worldwide.
He holds a PhD and MSc from INSEAD, and an MBA and a BA from NOVA School of Business and Economics. Before joining HEC Paris, he was a tenure-track professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University (2002-2011).
