XOTA

Publication format from the Executive Master at École Polytechnique

XOTA is a brand-new group from École Polytechnique (l'X). The term “XOTA” is a portmanteau of X (the nickname for Polytechnique) and SOTA (State of the Art). Its mission is to showcase the bibliographic research and technological analyses conducted by graduates of the Executive Master’s program of École Polytechnique.

In practice, XOTA publishes concise, forward-looking strategic monitoring briefs (notes de veille). These reports are regularly featured in La Jaune et la Rouge (the École Polytechnique alumni magazine) and have recently begun being published by Futuribles (the leading French journal for foresight and futures studies).

The Threefold Ambition of XOTA:

  • Technological Foresight: To monitor (weak) technological signals that will shape the major trends of the future. We occupy a strategic middle ground between "lab echoes" (early-stage and potential) and publications like L’Usine Nouvelle (downstream and current application).
  • Accessibility and Reach: To produce insights that are easily digestible and rapidly disseminated.
  • Institutional Influence: To enhance the prestige and visibility of the École Polytechnique Executive Master’s program, its surrounding ecosystem and that of collaborators of the XOTA initiative (Futuribles, HEC etc.).
