Over the next 10 years, half of all family businesses will face a generational handover; a significant proportion of their leaders have yet to formalize a succession plan. Shared family governance is essential to ensure a smooth transition between generations of the owning family and the management team. This 3-day program, part of the Executive Certificate Gouvernance des entreprises familiales, will allow you to take a step back and reflect on Governance and Succession.

  • Identify, understand, and know how to activate the key levers for successful family business succession
  • Define together the criteria for a successful handover; identify situations in which it is appropriate to involve a trusted third party
  • Recognize the main financial concepts to master in the context of succession, and understand the financing mechanisms involved
  • Understand the importance of family governance in this process
  • Explore the various forms of philanthropy that can unite the family

Share and decode the various stages of the succession process

Understand their roles and how to be effectively supported

The role of governance in ensuring business continuity and successful succession

Key tax mechanisms (inheritance tax, donations, Dutreil Pact, capital gains tax, etc.); available tax options and their implications for succession

Understand the main financial levers in business succession (business valuation, financing structure, cash flow impact) and financing mechanisms (LBO, shared donation, vendor loan, fundraising, etc.)

Unite the family around new projects during and after the succession process

Apply in groups the concepts and key elements for a successful business transfer
