Research of Excellence

Climate & Earth

25% of HEC Paris professors conduct research with implications for the Climate & Earth agenda. Their research gives priority to energy transition and new zero-carbon business models and strategies.

In June 2020, the S&O Institute conducted a survey among HEC Paris professors. 25% of respondents said that their research was related to climate, energy or the environment. 10% consider environmental aspects as an essential dimension of their research program, on topics such as the carbon footprint, the impact of internationalization strategies on the environment, the functioning of carbon markets, the consequences of natural disasters and the political behavior of companies

Below you will find some of the main research themes on environmental sustainability by academic department :

  • Marketing: environmentally friendly customer behavior, adoption and use of car-sharing platforms, the environmental dimension of value propositions.
  • Strategy: the environmental impact of urban areas, sustainability classifications and investments, cross-sectoral relations between companies, states and civil society.
  • Economics and Finance: assessing the long-term impact of climate change, decision-making behavior in the face of uncertainty, transparency on the carbon footprint of products and services.
  • Accounting and Management Control: impact reporting, performance management on SDG measures (Sustainable Development Goals), innovation processes.
