Ecole M: How to build scalable education models?

With 4 start-ups under his belt (Multiposting, Work4, Legalstart, Avostart), Stéphane Le Viet's passion for entrepreneurship (Polytechnique) has been coupled with the know-how and financial expertise of Maxime Faguer (H2003) to create École M, a network of bilingual nursery schools with an inclusive and innovative model, improved within the HEC Incubator.

Maxime Faguer et Stéphane Le Viet

M for kindergarten, M for Montessori but also M for loving school, teaching and our children.

"Despite the progress and solutions implemented in recent years, France remains one of the countries where social origin is one of the most important factors in the success of young people at school and in their professional orientation. » Based on this observation, these two childhood friends and fathers wanted to make their contribution by creating the M School, a private secular nursery school that offers bilingual English-French teaching based on active Montessori style pedagogy.

"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. » - Nelson Mandela.

The aim of the M School is first and foremost to enable each child to develop his or her full potential, whatever his or her tastes, interests, pace and abilities.

In 2016, they immersed themselves in the field of education by discovering different schools and education systems around the world before teaching as a freelance teacher. This immersion was also an opportunity to receive a good number of feedback from teachers, whose freedom to teach can sometimes be muzzled.

More than a single education model applicable to all, Maxime and Stéphane find that “multi-pedagogy” is most successful with young children and promotes their development.

At the crossroads of the Finnish and Montessori model, where teaching methods vary and are adapted to each child, they are creating a new type of nursery school, accessible to all thanks to a system of financial aid for families via the École M Foundation. Indeed, offering such teaching methods from the very beginning of a child's school career makes it possible to minimize the impact of social background on academic success.

It is in September 2018, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, that École M makes its first entry into the school year with two classes of 25 students aged 3 to 5 years old. Each class is supervised by two teachers, one French-speaking, one native English-speaking, to ensure bilingual teaching.

Creating a model that is as replicable as possible in order to open some fifteen schools of this type in the Ile-de-France region by 2023 is the objective that Stéphane and Maxime set themselves when they arrived a year ago at the HEC Incubator at Station F. "We have so much to do in order to create a high-impact model that the help provided by the HEC Incubator and its mentors allows us to implement everything without forgetting key essential points.» Stephane the Viet.

The Foundation

Created in 2019 the Fondation Ecole M (under the aegis of the Fondation Entreprendre) aims to finance the schooling of children from modest backgrounds.
In order to promote social diversity, more than 50% of families now receive financial aid to enable their children to attend school.

The Recruitment

School teachers, operations managers or HR managers, École M is currently looking for various profiles for the opening next September of two new schools, in Paris 15ème and Clichy.
All offers and information are available here.

Always in search of learning and improvement, our two seasoned entrepreneurs continue their adventure in order to offer the school of tomorrow to current and future generations.
