Job Description
The Law and Tax Department of HEC Paris invites applications for an open-rank faculty position starting on 1st September 2024. The department seeks to strengthen its research on corporate law. The preferred research profile of the successful candidate focuses on corporate law. The resulting research is expected to lead to publications in top peer-reviewed law journals. The applicant is also expected to be an excellent teacher.
Professors are part of the Research Faculty of HEC Paris and will be teaching Grande École and Specialized Masters students, the MBA program, the PhD in Law and Regulation, and Executive Education, depending on their field of interest. HEC Paris faculty receive excellent financial support for research, and all research faculty are able to apply for research funding from the HEC Foundation. The remuneration and benefits package is competitive by international standards and will be commensurate with experience and profile.

While HEC Paris is a bilingual school (English/French), the ability to teach in French is not mandatory. The work shall be mainly performed at HEC Paris campus in Jouy-en-Josas.

Candidate Profile
Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
1. Completion of a PhD degree in Law (or JSD equivalent) - dual education (economics, management, social sciences, etc.) and/or a habilitation thesis is an advantage.
2. Publication record in the relevant field(s) in case of senior position applications.
3. Fluency to work in a multicultural environment - this competence must be highlighted by concrete achievements in the cover letter.
4. Experience and ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner - this competence must be highlighted by concrete achievements in the cover letter.
Working ability in French is a plus, but not a requirement.
Application Procedure
The application must contain:
1. A cover letter and, if possible, a 60-second video introducing the candidate.
2. Resume with publications.
3. An electronic copy of one (1) research paper, published or accepted connected to relevant field(s).
4. A statement containing:
a. The candidate’s research agenda (2 pages max).
b. An outline of two short course projects (on Masters or PhD level of 18 to 30 hours for 6 to 10 weeks) related to the relevant field(s) (1 page max).
When shortlisted, the department may ask the candidates to provide two letters of reference.

About Law & Tax Department
HEC Law & Tax Department is a community of 12 faculty members and dozens of guest lecturers that interacts with more than 2,500 students every year. It offers two programs (the Master in Strategy & Law and the LLM in Law & International Management) and provides courses across virtually all HEC programs: from one-year specialized masters, the CEMS program to the MBA and Executive Education. It relies on the support of more than thirty law firms and 4 CAC-40 corporations (AXA, BNP Paribas, Société Générale and L’Oréal) who attend the annual Legal Career Forum.
