HEC Paris’ International Affairs Department, HEC Talents, and the HEC Asia Association are delighted to host a conference bringing together top business leaders and government officials from Shandong Province, China, alongside with HEC’s international teams and students.
Launched by HEC Paris Executive MBA graduates Peipei Guo (CEO, Links Paris) and Amanda Woolverton, this initiative reflects their shared commitment to strengthening cultural and economic dialogue between China and Europe. The event aims to foster collaboration between the HEC ecosystem and businesses in Shandong Province, a region renowned for its rich heritage and dynamic economy.
About Shandong and Weifang
Shandong is one of China’s most historically and culturally significant provinces. It is also the birthplace of Confucius and Mencius, and a cornerstone of Chinese philosophy, education, and traditional values. Today, it is one of China’s most economically vibrant regions, with strengths in manufacturing, agriculture, chemical industries, healthcare technology, and machinery. The province is home to over 150 higher education institutions and plays a key role in international trade and scientific research.
Within Shandong, the city of Weifang stands out as an emerging cultural and industrial hub, renowned as the “World Capital of Kites” and a designated “City of Peace.”

- Presentation by the Weifang Delegation (45 minutes)
- Introduction to Weifang’s culture, economy, and lifestyle.
- Overview of key sectors: high-tech industry, healthcare, agriculture, incubation, and education.
- Future development outlook and potential collaboration opportunities with HEC students — including internships, exchange programs, and cultural visits.
- Exploring how Weifang’s intangible cultural heritage could be adapted to European markets (e.g., motifs, symbols, and packaging design for luxury brands).
- Discussion of a potential consulting alliance between HEC Paris and Weifang to support local companies’ expansion in Europe.
- Building storytelling and branding strategies to attract international entrepreneurs and visitors to Weifang.
Followed by a Q&A session (30–45 minutes) with students.
