Program

This course will introduce you to the key concepts, considerations, and operational tools in these areas. It will enable you to think rationally about these subjects, have the necessary information to make sound decisions, or provide valuable advice.

Financial analysis aims to diagnose the past to understand the present and attempt to forecast the future. The objective of this first course is to provide a clear, simple, and effective methodology for conducting financial analyses independently and making relevant diagnoses of companies' financial situations.

The goal of this course is to present the main methods of valuing a company, the complex aspects they entail, how they can be combined, and what their potentially different results can tell us about the company's situation.

Now that you have a clear understanding of the company's situation and its value, thanks to financial analysis and valuation, you are equipped to participate in financial decision-making within the company.

Prerequisites

The courses are open to everyone, and there is no selection process. However, like all HEC Paris programs, they adhere to a high level of academic rigor and require a strong commitment and intellectual rigor.

Beyond the certification, the value of your training largely depends on your personal motivation, curiosity, and investment in your learning project.

Additional content is offered approximately one month before the start of the training. It is not mandatory.

Prerequisites - Financial Analysis

E-learning resources and the textbook are made available about one month before the program starts.

They will allow you to review concepts related to:

  • Income statements
  • Cash flows
  • Economic assets

Prerequisites - Company Valuation

It is necessary to master the concepts of capitalization, discounted cash flows, and net present value, which are covered by e-learning modules (in English) and the textbook (in French).

Prerequisites - Investment and Financing Choices

It is necessary to be familiar with debt instruments, bonds, and hybrid securities. If needed, you can become acquainted with these instruments through e-learning modules (in English) and the textbook (in French).

Learning and evaluation methods

An initial overall assessment in the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire (QCM) takes place prior to the training to gauge the participants' expectations and levels.

The pedagogy of this training relies on a wide variety of learning situations: practical cases, discussions, challenges, case studies, exercises, group work.

Each skill is assessed through formative evaluations (practical cases, exercises) throughout the training.

A summative evaluation in the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire (QCM) is organized at the end of the course to measure the learning outcomes of the training.

Capitalization

The ICCF@HEC Paris program is eligible for capitalization towards the Executive Corporate Finance Certificate. Validation of the program will allow you to be exempted from module 1 of this certificate.
