Abstract:
This year marks the 250th birthday of the United States. The Semiquincentennial Celebration invites a dialogue on how historically the American and French Revolutions and the AI Revolution of today may be in parallel with one another. Margaret Hu, Davison M. Douglas Professor of Law and Director of the Digital Democracy Lab at William & Mary Law School, will explore how innovation in legal education played a formative role in the formation of the new Democratic Republic. William & Mary Law School, founded under the leadership of Thomas Jefferson, is the oldest law school in the nation and was established at the height of the American Revolution. Author of the new textbook/casebook AI Law and Policy (Aspen Publishing), she will discuss why constitutional principles guide how she hopes future lawyers will understand the impact of AI and the law in the AI Revolution. The talk will explore how law, lawyers, and legal education can help to secure the conditions of success for another 250 years.
