Prof. Eric Mengus
Eric Mengus is Associate Professor of Economics at HEC Paris and Research Affiliate at the CEPR. His research is centered on Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics, as well as Urban Economics.
Eric explores a variety of topics related to sovereign debt, default risk, macroeconomic expectations, monetary policy, and the geography of economic activity.
Notably, he has recently published research articles on how fiscal policy can influence central banks' decisions, and on the formation and role of households' macroeconomic expectations in monetary policy. Another significant area of his research examines the geography of economic activity. His work has also been featured on platforms such as The Conversation and Les Echos.
He teaches courses on macroeconomics, sovereign debt, monetary policy, and international capital flows in HEC's Master's programs.
He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts, and he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics and a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from Sciences Po.
He was awarded the 2019 Young Researcher Prize in Economics by the Fondation Banque de France.
