Jean-Édouard Colliard Awarded Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance 2022

Jean-Édouard Colliard, Associate Professor of Finance at HEC Paris and co-holder of the Analytics for Future Banking chair (HEC Paris — Natixis — Polytechnique), is the winner of the “Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance” award 2022, sponsored by the SCOR Foundation for Science.

Jean-Édouard Colliard received the “Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance” award 2022 from the SCOR Foundation for Science, in partnership with the Institut Europlace de Finance and the Louis Bachelier Group.

Candidates are nominated by the Scientific Board members of Institut Louis Bachelier and the Scientific Board members of IEF. The award winner is voted by the Louis Bachelier Academic Fellows College.

He is a researcher we should pay attention to when seeking solutions for the financial issues of today and tomorrow,” says Zeying Peuillet, General Secretary of the SCOR Foundation for Science.

Moreover, Jean-Édouard has already received an impressive quantity of awards for his research. He was already recognized by the Louis Bachelier Group in 2015, when he was selected for the IEF grant on the “Measuring Regulatory Complexity” paper. He also won the HEC Foundation’s Research Award in 2021, the Young Researcher Award in Economics from the Banque de France Foundation in 2017 and the Young Researcher Award 2015 from the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers).

In his research on the regulation of financial institutions and the microstructure of financial markets, Jean-Édouard studies the regulation of banks and market failures, and warns against the possible unintended effects of regulatory proposals or proposes alternative solutions.

Jean-Edouard and colleagues’ research-based knowledge is taught at HEC Paris. In this interview, he explains how his research on financial regulation and banking supervision is directly mobilized in the classroom.
