Transforming Organisations as a Global Leader Transforming Organisations as a Global Leader

How do you lead an organization through transformation, with increasingly diverse teams, in an increasingly disruptive world? Artificial intelligence, the ecological transition, geopolitical disruption, demographic shifts: leading a team or a function is no longer enough for executives. They must co-lead the enterprise, bring together talent of different identities, cultures and generations, and drive lasting transformation.

Introduction

The Transforming Organisations as a Global Leader Executive Certificate is a leadership program for executives and senior managers. It develops the three key capabilities of a global leader: enterprise leadership and executive judgment, inclusive leadership for collective performance, and leading change in uncertain environments.

Grounded in HEC Paris research, it combines case studies, executive dilemmas, executive committee simulations, role plays and peer-to-peer workshops, so you can apply what you learn in your organization right away.

The Certificate brings together three complementary programs that can be taken in any order: Leadership for Executives, Leading Diversity for Performance and Leading Change in a Disruptive World.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the certificate, you will be able to:

  • Develop an enterprise mindset and contribute to collective leadership beyond your own scope, strengthening organizational alignment.
  • Exercise sound executive judgment to make responsible decisions in complex and uncertain situations, and navigate strategic trade-offs.
  • Build vertical and horizontal flexibility: move between levels of leadership, manage contradictions and adopt a systemic perspective.
  • Lead diverse teams and stakeholders inclusively, adapting your leadership practices to differences of identity, culture, generation and opinion.
  • Recognize cognitive biases and personal blind spots, and use political intelligence to turn diverse viewpoints into collective performance.
  • Diagnose complex transformation challenges, challenge assumptions about change, and navigate ambiguity, resistance and power dynamics.
  • Mobilize stakeholders and translate transformation ambitions into adaptive action, organizational learning and sustainable change.

Programme

  • Enterprise mindset and collective leadership: Co-leading the enterprise beyond
    one's function
  • Vertical and horizontal flexibility: Moving between leadership levels, managing
    contradictions, systemic vision
  • Executive judgment, strategic trade-offs and productive disagreement in the leadership team
  • Multiplying human potential: Inspiring excellence and building strong bonds

  • Identity, gender, generations and interculturality in the workplace
  • Cognitive biases, blind spots and inclusive situational leadership
  • Inclusive culture and performance: Organizational best practices
  • Political intelligence: Overcoming conflict and turning diverse views into creativity
    and performance
  • Challenging assumptions about change and planning for flexible transformation
  • Collaboration, resistance, conflict and power dynamics in change
  • Change communication through informal networks and organizational culture
  • Experimentation, learning from failure and the learning organization

Key strengths

  • An integrated senior leadership journey, not a juxtaposition of three programs: it connects three capabilities executives increasingly need at the same time.
  • A flexible architecture: three four-day programs that can be taken in any order.
  • Experiential learning grounded in HEC Paris research: simulations, role plays, business cases and executive dilemmas, peer-to-peer workshops.
  • A certificate taught in English, designed for leaders working in international and multicultural environments.
  • Programs linked to RNCP skills blocks, two of which are CPF-eligible.

Capitalization & Certification

The Executive Certificate is awarded upon completion of all three programs, taken in any order.

  • Leadership for Executives is aligned with skills block RNCP37720BC04 "Developing an Ethical Managerial Culture within a Leadership Team or Organization" and may contribute to the Executive MBA pathway, subject to the applicable HEC Paris certification rules.

  • Leading Diversity for Performance: eligible for CPF and VAE, skills block RNCP39443BC04 "Managing Responsible Multicultural Teams".

  • Leading Change in a Disruptive World: eligible for CPF and VAE, skills block RNCP41216BC05 "Implementing a Consulting Approach in Sustainable Development and Social Innovation", also credit-bearing toward the AI for Business Transformation Executive Certificate.

Teaching Approach

The certificate is built on the HEC Leadership Signature and its five core learning principles: situated, applied, collaborative, multidisciplinary and impact-focused.

It combines research-based frameworks, business cases and executive dilemmas, executive committee and change simulations, experiential exercises and role plays, co-development, peer-to-peer workshops, structured feedback and collective debriefs, self-assessments, psychometric testing and individual reflection.

Each program connects directly to participants' own leadership, diversity and transformation challenges, so that new insights can be applied immediately in their professional environment.

HEC is a magical place. You will uncover its hidden facets, which will give you the keys.

Roxana Barbulescu

Affiliate Professor (Leading Change in a Disruptive World)

Leading change means asking people to let go of the familiar and embrace new ways. The process starts with ourselves: challenging our own assumptions. But it comes alive with others, when we create the conditions for change to take root and flourish.
Roxana Barbulescu - HEC

Mathis Schulte

Associate Professor (Leading Change in a Disruptive World)

Change leadership isn't about charisma or control. It's about making space: for reflection, for dissent, for questioning what once felt certain. If that sounds uncomfortable, good. That's where transformation begins.
Mathis Schulte

Laurence Monnet-Vernier

This program will give you a deep understanding of the benefits of inclusion.
